I suspect that many audio-related applications suffer from this ridiculous behaviour. Simply connecting a microphone will make the device detectable. If not, and if no other inputs are active (remember the mono/stereo mixer input is unavailable on many Windows 7 systems), the device will not show up in the DirectSound Capture Devices Collection. Newer versions of Windows check whether or not a microphone is connected to a device. The problem is that a device will not be recognized if all inputs are disabled.

I have very little experience with writing drivers but I see this piece of hardware as an asset and would be willing to contribute as much as possible to the creation of a 64 bit compatible driver. I'm trying to find out if there is a way to make a patch, work around or 3rd party driver that would allow me to use this device as a MIDI controller with audio editing programs like FL Studio. Only after getting the item do I find out there is no 64bit support for this item! This is an awesome keyboard and it works great with my old laptop running XP but it appears that there is no 64 bit driver or support and Creative insists that there never will be.
